In the artist's words
"SHARING HAPPINESS!"
Jean-Michel Guénard is part of a long pictorial tradition, having enjoyed a distinguished professional career between 1980 and 2008. His works have been acquired by numerous international collections, notably in the United States and Japan, before he rediscovered his creative energy in 2024 to dedicate himself once again to his passion for landscape and portraiture.
Working exclusively in oil on linen canvas, the artist has developed a highly personal Impressionist style, imbued with light and joy. Each canvas is the result of meticulous work, sometimes requiring over one hundred hours of research, where tens of thousands of brushstrokes are layered to capture the precise vibration of light.
From Lorraine to Normandy, from Brittany to landscapes across Europe, he seeks to capture the fleeting moment of backlighting or the gentleness of dawn. His technical skill aims to offer the viewer "little corners of paradise," where transparency and contrasts celebrate the serene beauty of nature.
Beyond technique, his painting is an act of sharing and transmission. Through the message of the image and the light of the canvas, Jean-Michel Guénard seeks to establish a bond of profound empathy with the collector, this distant friend with whom he shares a sense of happiness and a common sensibility.
